Coronavirus (646) New WHO guidance on cleaning and disinfection of environmental surfaces in the context of COVID-19

22 May, 2020

(with thanks to AMR-NAP)

This guidance is intended for health care professionals, public health professionals and health authorities that are developing and implementing policies and standard operating procedures (SOP) on the cleaning and disinfection of environmental surfaces in the context of COVID-19.

The document provides details about preparation and use of chlorine-based products, and reiterates that routine spraying or fogging of disinfectants, either indoors or outdoors, is not recommended for COVID-19 control.

Spraying individuals with disinfectants (such as in a tunnel, cabinet, or chamber) is not recommended under any circumstances.
