Coronavirus (764) Yesterday in Colombia: pushing the economy at the expense of people

20 June, 2020

Dear all,

The Colombian Government declared june 19th 2020 as a day without taxes to move people to buy but under the social distancing recommendatios.

After three months of quarantine and different strategies to strengthen the healthcare system and educate the community, this action was seeing as detrimental of all previous efforts.

People violated social distancing and were crowded in shopping malls (black-friday like).

It was an expected behavior and the government just neglected a growing problem to save the economy (of whom?).

Regards,

Francisco
