As intellectual property remains an issue in infodemiology, HIFA members might be interested in the Open COVID Pledge (https://opencovidpledge.org/about/), which calls on organizations around the world to make their patents and copyrights freely available in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The Pledge was developed by the Open COVID Coalition, an international group of scientists and lawyers seeking to accelerate the rapid development and deployment of diagnostics, vaccines, therapeutics, medical equipment and software solutions in this urgent public health crisis.
The Pledge has been recognized by the World Health Organization in its ‘Solidarity Call to Action’ (https://www.who.int/news-room/detail/24-04-2020-commitment-and-call-to-a... ) in the fight against COVID-19, as a means to advance research and science.
