HIFA and the Global Health Network - Synergy in Honduras

5 April, 2019

Hello to all. Here we share with you an academic institutional experience from Honduras, Centro America. At the Faculty of Medical Sciences (Facultad de Ciencias Médicas, FCM) of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH) in response to the high demand for training, we have benefited from network collaboration and access to good quality and free online courses that contribute to strengthen the ethical and quality research. Examples of platforms with which we have promoted this type of work are The Global Health Network (TGHN, https://tghn.org/) and HIFA (http://www.hifa.org/) and HIFA Spanish (http://www.hifa.org/forums/hifa-spanish), for which we are grateful.

Through HIFA and HIFA Spanish we have access to health information and informative and helpful discussions about access to healthcare information. Through TGHN we have access to courses that provide certificate on a variety of topics such as responsibilities of researchers in terms of good clinical practice, clinical research and children, the research question and research protocol. The two initiatives are promoted from the Scientific Research Unit (Unidad de Investigación Científica, UIC) FCM UNAH among graduate and postgraduate students as well as faculty members, from Medical and Nursing Schools and technical careers. When we do courses and workshops, we make the induction for online registration to the two platforms in real time. User comments can be read in the discussion space of the thematic group REDe (Research Capacity Network, https://rede.tghn.org/) at TGHN. We appreciate the synergy between the two initiatives and will continue to stimulate active participation in both. From Honduras, we invite you to share this experience with others that might be interested and can also benefit from it. NOTE: this message is being posted in HIFA and HIFA Spanish Forum and also in TGHN/REDe discussion space.
