(Forwarded from the JLN for UHC at Management Sciences for Health)
The JLN hosted two webinars in December to highlight new resources available to countries implementing universal health coverage. Recordings of the webinars are available on-demand by visiting the events' pages, Vertical Integration: Presenting a Diagnostic Tool for Countries Working Toward Health System Integration and Using Health Data to Improve Universal Health Coverage.
1. Decision-makers face many obstacles along their country’s journey to implement universal health coverage, particularly when trying to better integrate health service delivery across different levels of care... this webinar, organized by the JLN’s Vertical Integration and New Roles for Hospitals learning exchange team, to learn about the Vertical Integration Diagnostic and Readiness Tool, a survey instrument that helps countries assess and implement vertical integration policies, programs, and pilots.
2. As more countries prioritize universal health coverage policies, governments increasingly rely upon quality data to make informed policy decisions. However, persistent challenges in their data systems constrain progress toward improvements in the access, quality, and affordability of health services.
In this webinar, members of the JLN’s Data Foundations collaborative highlighted three case studies about data governance and use to improve universal health coverage policies, shared how the case studies were developed and some key takeaways, and introduced the development of a companion guide to help governments apply the case studies.
Collaborative members shared short presentations on data use in chronic disease management, financial management, and claims data use, before an open question and answer period for webinar attendees. Our speakers included:
Caren Althauser (PATH) and Robert Eichler (Wipro, Ltd.) as co-moderators
Helen Kiarie (Ministry of Health, Kenya) as a presenter
Joshua Kolajo (National Health Insurance Scheme, Nigeria) as a presenter
Won Whang (National Health Insurance Service, Republic of Korea) as a presenter
