June's update on CABI's Global Health interface - Focus on Snakebite

19 June, 2019

Dear HIFA colleagues

CABI'S GLOBAL HEALTH IS NOW MORE THAN A DATABASE.

In March we launched a new online interface (site) which allows you to browse and search public health research information, alongside news and alerts. Our aim is to keep you on top of public health developments from around the world.

Each month our new Global Health site has a monthly focus on an important public health issue and provides a related news item, a useful smart search, and a selection of focussed records, book chapters and CAB reviews.

THIS MONTH'S FOCUS TOPIC IS SNAKEBITE.

It features a news article "Wellcome announces £80 million funding boost for snakebite treatments" which links together funding, the WHO's first snakebite strategy, current treatment, and the Global Snakebite Initiative.

The news article can be read here: https://bit.ly/2IVdIR7

Other news articles can be found on 6 theme pages and 7 regional pages. These include:

Chronic diseases: "Oklahoma USA seeks damages from drug manufacturers to combat opioid epidemic"

Disease vectors & Entomology: "Climate change will boost dengue spread"

Health & Wellbeing: "What's the best way to deliver treatment for obstetric fistula in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa?"

East Asia & Pacific: "Infectious disease risk for 2020 Olympic Games"

Europe & Central Asia: "Surge in sexually transmitted infections in England"

Read these news items and try out the new site and its novel features here: https://bit.ly/2L1ltYy

If you have any questions or need support using the site, do please contact me on w.norris@cabi.org

I am always glad to hear from fellow HIFA members and really value your advice and opinions.
