Open access (74)

2 September, 2019

Hey Chris,

Thanks for prolonging this conversation whose energy shows the relevance of the topic. I would rather extend the notion of Open Access beyond the current small ecosystem of Northern authors, editors and publishers agonizing over article processing charges. Open Access should be about opening our eyes and minds to alternative ways of generating, co-creating and sharing knowledge, thanks to technology. In Southern contexts, authentic open access is less about limiting knowledge to information in journals and more about recognizing public literature and grassroots voices.

Best,
