Traditional birth attendants (11)

3 May, 2019

Leila,

Thank you for sharing your work on and experience with TBAs in India. Very instructive.

I read your last sentence, that 'This is invaluable insight quickly being lost as universalization of "Institutional Birth" is India's national stated and practiced health policy. Also sadly none of this wisdom is currently incorporated into modern midwifery training of RNRMs.', and share your lamentation because there is such huge resistance in 'high places' to using a potentially useful resource that should be embraced all over LMICs (i.e. TBAs), at least until there are sufficient numbers of and equitable distribution of the skilled birth attendants.
