Coronavirus (1294) The link between COVID-19 and VItamin D (VIVID): A systematic review and meta-analysis

8 June, 2021

Dear All:

I am glad to share with you our latest publication which I have coauthored: A Systematic review and meta-analysis about a topic that we are asked a lot about during this pandemic: Vitamin D and COVID-19.

Here is the link to "The link between COVID-19 and VItamin D (VIVID): A systematic review and meta-analysis": https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0026049521000536

Some major highlights of this systematic review are:

*Patients with COVID-19 tend to have lower 25(OH)D levels than healthy subjects.

*There is a trend for a positive association between vitamin D deficiency and COVID health outcomes.

*Evidence is limited by low quality studies and possible reverse causality mechanisms.

*Calcifediol supplementation might decrease the risk of COVID related ICU admission.

Thank you,

OLA
