Coronavirus (1378) Communicating risks and benefits of COVID-19 vaccine (2)

13 October, 2021

I disagree with the “three great reasons” why people are supposed to refuse the COVID-19 vaccine [https://www.hifa.org/dgroups-rss/coronavirus-1376-communicating-risks-an.... A study we conducted in 5 West Africa countries showed that the main reason for the non-adherence to the COVID-19 preventive measures and for not taking the vaccine is a feeling of not being at risk (http://revuemtsi.societe-mtsi.fr/index.php/bspe-articles/article/view/143 and https://doi.org/10.4269/ajtmh.21-0013). Risk communication studies have shown that the main reasons for people to follow or not follow the public health recommendations is their risk perception (https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/13669877.2020.1758193).

To understand vaccine and protective measures resistances there is no other way then conducting field studies on the risk perception.
