Fostering youth regarding Rabies prevention (2)

14 September, 2020

This raises the fundamental question why Rabies is commonly caused by dog-bite in Pakistan, India and other countries in LMICs (low and middle income countries) while that is not the case in HICs (high income countries)?

Zoonotic diseases are spread from animals to humans. It is our responsibility to understand and prevent Zoonotic diseases.

Dog is the most popular pet in the western world where it gets the attention and care that a pet deserves. That includes veterinary visits and immunizations.

Unfortunately, dogs though adopted for their natural friendly and useful attributes around the world, in LMIC rarely receive the care a pet deserves. That includes lack of immunization.

Rare cases of rabies get reported due to a raccoon or bat bite and not by dog bites In HICs.
