On August 3, 2020, Dr. Stephen Trzeciak, co-author of Compassionomics, presented his groundbreaking research on the positive impact of compassion in health care.

"Don't take the false choice of an "or." Clinical excellence and compassion yield the best outcomes for patients."

Reflections offered by:

Dr. Andrew Likaka, Director of Quality Management and Digital Health, Ministry of Health and Population, Malawi. Andrew offered reflections on activating compassionate care at the national health system level.

"National-level guidelines are not clear about the role of compassionate care. How do we reinforce the role of compassionate care in practice?"

Dr. Louis Ako-Egbe, MD, MSPH is a District Health Manager in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. Louis provided his perspective about translating national health policies into action at the district level.

"We need a health system with a conscience."

Samia Abdulle is a Community Engagement Consultant based in Clarkston, Georgia - knownn as the 'most diverse square mile in America'. Samia offered reflections about the human dimension of compassion and how that plays out in health equity at the community level.

"We need to advocate against all the systematic injustice that is built into health care access. We need to see the person as a whole."

Many GHCR participants have expressed interest in additional resources on compassion. We are happy to oblige! Please check out the FACE Events page for links to trainings and practice opportunities.
