Launch of the inaugural issue of BMJ Open Quality South Asia

22 August, 2021

Dear HIFA members

Greetings from NQOCN India

Showcasing of QI stories from LMIC settings has always been challenging .

There are issues related to lack of skills related to documentation and

data analysis and finally lack of funding to cover up for costly article

processing charges which most international journals levy for such

publications .

The net result is that many promising QI stories from resource limited

settings are lost .The larger fall out of this is that it demotivates the

participating teams from undertaking such initiatives in future with little

macro level support .

Iam happy to inform the HIFA community that NQOCN India (

in collaboration with BMJ Publishing and financial support of UNICEF India

has released the first issue of the annual BMJ Open Quality Journal for

South Asia .The full issue can be accessed at

Or from :

BMJ OQ South Asia edition release event is now available on NQOCN's

Community of Practice youtube channel. Access it here:

The call for papers for the next issue opens soon for teams across South

Asia .

Do share this information widely with colleagues .

Thanking you

With regards

Vikram Datta
