Mobilising stakeholders to improve access to state-of-the-art radiotherapy in low- and middle-income countries

New research on the technical and structural challenges faced in African low-resource settings for the provision of radiotherapy services has just been published in ecancer. The authors, Ndimofor Chofor et al, re-evaluate strategies to overcome the shortfall of these services and suggest solutions to improve the situation, including the use of information and communication technologies for the provision of expert knowledge and telemedicine, the use of solar energy to avoid power outages and the use of high-end technology for enhanced quality assurance.
