Dear HIFA colleagues,
On the 27th of February A National Training on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing was organised in Yaounde. Youths and adolescents from all over Cameroon gathered to be trained on advocating for adolescents and young people in Cameroon, a presentation of a practical toolkit for young people to advocate for improved Adolescent Health and Wellbeing. This toolkit is an adaptation of Advocating for change for adolescents! A practical toolkit for young people to advocate for improved adolescent health and wellbeing
published in 2018 by the WHO, The Partnership For Maternal, Newborn and Child Health '(PCMH), and Women Deliver. The presence of the Representative of the Minister of Youths and Civic Education Representative marked the event.
The 30 youths and adolescents that were present got exposed to content organized into four sessions :
Session one: Introduction to adolescent health and wellbeing
Session Two: Understanding adolescent health and wellbeing In Cameroon and policies that back up action
Session Three: Developing an effective advocacy roadmap
Session Four: Adolescents health and wellbeing in times of crisis : The Case of Covid19
It was an opportunity for the HIFA in Cameroon to raise awareness of the importance of the availability of and access to healthcare and mental healthcare information for youths and adolescents. Very indispensable for informed healthcare choices and healthy behaviour
Best Wishes,
