I wish to share the results of a training effort addressing community health workers in Tigray region, Ethiopia, to manage a growing number of persons living with HIV.
TRAINING FOR COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS: THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS A MODEL OF COMMUNITY ANTIRETROVIRAL THERAPY DELIVERY
According to the WHO guidelines on the use of antiretroviral drugs, trained CHWs can be successfully involved in the management of innovative models of community ART delivery. Based on consultation with the Tigray Regional Health Bureau (TRHB) we started a training program addressed to CHWs aimed at reinforcing their communication and clinical skills. The paper presents the preliminary results of the training program developed and implemented by a multidisciplinary team including experts in communication, medical doctors and IT. The co-creation of the training program to meet real needs was fundamental. HIFA is also mentioned in the article.
We decided to publish it in an online African Jounal to make it free for all who can make the best use of it. You can read the article here
