Starting on 10 May HIFA and WHO are collaborating on a 'deep-dive' on how to maintain essential health services: reproductive health, child health, mental health, non-communicable diseases, surgery, emergency care. Throughout we shall include a focus on vulnerable people as well as the general population. These explorations will unfold week by week over 6 weeks, guided by an expert working group of representatives of WHO and other organisations.
This builds on our previous work together in November/December 2020, when we held a general thematic discussion on Maintaining essential health services during the pandemic. This rich dialogue engaged dozens of HIFA members worldwide, exchanging more than 200 substantive messages, sharing experience and observations at country level.
Our reference document is the official WHO guidance (2020): Maintaining essential health services: operational guidance for the COVID-19 context interim guidance (June 2020).
If you are not already a HIFA member, please join today in readiness for the discussions!
