NIHR is the United Kingdom's largest funder of health and care research and provides the people, facilities and technology that enables research to thrive. Working in partnership with the NHS, universities, local government, other research funders, patients and the public, NIHR delivers and enables world-class research that transforms people's lives, promotes economic growth and advances science. Our Global Health Research portfolio, funded through Official Development Assistance (ODA), funds high-quality applied health and care research for the direct and primary benefit of people in low and middle income countries (LMICs). We deliver our funding in more than 50 countries through: 1. Programmes that award research funding to equitable partnerships between groups of researchers or groups of research institutions in LMICs and the UK; 2. Partnerships with other global health research organisations to support existing, high quality funding schemes and to co-create new initiatives to respond to areas of need; and 3. Investment in People, funding the career development of researchers at all career stages and supporting research managers and support staff in LMICs and in the UK.
