HAPPINESS Project increases access to mental health treatment in Nigeria (2)

10 January, 2019

Thank you Dr. Neil for sharing this.

I'd like to say we need to expand the mental health perspective to go beyond just mental disorders and diseases, and to be in the overall scope of mental and psychological well-being in general; as sound mental and psychological health are concrete elements for society progress.

The statistical data of mental and psychological well-being are usually not reflecting the reality and can hardly be generalized, especially in developing communities where burden of communicable diseases and neglected tropical diseases can overshadow the importance of mental and psychological well-being, particularly in vulnerable groups under the poverty line.

I hope we can see more projects addressing these aspects in the future and in the developing world specifically. not just about happiness, but all the positive emotions that are reflecting healthy minds and souls.

All my best regards,

Noha
