Introduction: Hao Li, China (1) Defining global health as public health somewhere else (16) Global Health Research and Policy

20 June, 2020

Dear all,

It's really nice to know you all.

This is Hao Li from Wuhan, China. I am happy to join the network today, with the invitation from Dr. Neil Pakenham-Walsh.

I am working as the Deputy Editor in Chief for the journal Global Health Research and Policy. My background is in health management and global health. The network is fantastic and I think in the future we can collaborate more in publication the key findings or global advocacy/actions.

I just read the HIFA news [http://www.hifa.org/news/bmj-global-health-hifa-members-comment-defining... and it is interesting to find that some of the HIFA members (Sara Fischer, Poorva Patil, Chris Zielinski, Lori Baxter, Francisco Javier BonillaEscobar, Shabina Hussain, Claudia Lai, Sarah Walpole, Francis Ohanyido, David Flood, Ambrish Singh and Najeeb AlShorbaji) published a commentary article in BMJ Global Health about the global health concepts based on a group discussion.

It happened that we also published an article in March on the same topic based on our editorial meeting in last July. I would like to draw your attention to the article "What is global health? Key concepts and clarification of misperceptions" [https://ghrp.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s41256-020-00142-7] and welcome the comments from you. If some of you would like to write a commentary or perspective article to our article, please feel free to contact me. You may have interest to read the article "A synthesis of implementation science frameworks and application to global health gaps". [https://ghrp.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s41256-019-0115-1]

FYI, I am organizing a thematic issue on "The Governance of New Coronavirus Pandemic: Bridging Research and Policy" [https://www.biomedcentral.com/collections/the-governance-of-new-coronavi.... Although it is approaching the end of call for papers, we can still consider some original articles with global impact.

Thanks.

Best regards
