Dear Colleagues and Partners,
Please join us on September 25th, 2019, from 09:30 to 10:30 Washington / 15:30 to 16:30 Geneva for Immediate Postpartum Family Planning Webinar, the latest installment in our High Impact Practices webinar series.
Offering modern contraception services as part of care provided during childbirth increases postpartum contraceptive use and is likely to reduce both unintended pregnancies and pregnancies that are too closely spaced. Unintended and closely spaced births are a public health concern as they are associated with increased maternal, newborn, and child morbidity and mortality. After a live birth, the recommended interval before attempting the next pregnancy is at least 24 months, based on a consultation convened by the World Health Organization, in order to reduce the risk of adverse maternal, perinatal, and infant outcomes. Despite this evidence, 61% of women are not using effective contraception within 24 months postpartum to avoid an unintended pregnancy.
Download the IPPFP Brief here, and register for the webinar today! We look forward to your participation.
