New UN Special Rapporteur on climate change and human rights

12 May, 2024

This is to inivte HIFA list members to contribute ideas to help us respond to the new UN Special Rapporteur on climate change and human rights, Professor Elisa Morgera, who has just been appointed by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

The Special Rapporteur is inviting States, interested individuals and organizations working on issues related to climate change, environmental democracy, business responsibilities, or access to environmental information, to provide input for the preparation of her thematic report which focuses on the role of information and knowledge. Inputs can be both country-specific or of a general nature. These inputs will inform the thematic report of the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights in the context of climate change to the United Nations General Assembly 79th session.

HIFA is considering making a collective statement about the role of information and knowledge on health and climate change. We would appreciate your ideas which we would incorporate into such a statement.
