Corporations are wealthier than many of the smallest countries. We rely on them to make products and the profits that support our pensions. But as Edward, Lord Thurlow, said of tbe East India Company, " Corporations have no body that can be punished, nor souls to be condemned, so they can do as they like".

We try to discuss this in relation to the control and processing of personal health in our draft articles "Patient access to digital health records- future of healthcare." According to EU General Data Processing Regulations, no-one can own the personal health data- except an individual who can own their own personal health data.

Personal health data that is managed for a person/patient has a processor, who processes the data. The processor can see the data under a contractual and regulated agreement and suitable regulated, legal provisions to do so.

The data processor is controlled by the data controller who oversees the legal provisions.

We feel that patients must have up to date and transparent information about the legal provisions and the processing of their data.
