Thanks for your question about NoviGuide. Our pathways need to align with the national guidelines in the countries where it is used. These guidelines will take into account maternal factors (such as gestational diabetes), but, to your point, they are rarely dynamic and multivariable: for example, they do not take into account uncontrolled diabetes, gestational hypertension and growth restriction as a clinical picture distinct from each of those diagnoses separately. In our neonatal work, what we have found is that the clinical appearance of the baby after birth is a useful catch-all to find newborns who may need further intervention. NoviGuide encourages nurses to do frequent spot checks and rounds on babies, especially in case of any danger sign or risk factor (maternal fever, birth in unclean environment, etc.).
