ICHG welcomes CHIFA members to join the following event:
Risk and resilience in Syrian Refugee Children
Professor Michael Pluess
1830 on 22nd October (BST)
Professor Michael Pluess is the Head of Psychological Sciences and Professor of Developmental Psychology at the University of Surrey. He is a world-leading expert on Environmental Sensitivity--the study of how individuals differ in their psychological and biological responses to both adverse and supportive environments.
Professor Pluess has been at the forefront of global mental health research for displaced populations. He has led landmark, large-scale longitudinal studies investigating risk, resilience, and the effectiveness of psychological interventions specifically among Syrian refugee children in the Middle East. Central to his research is the concept of Vantage Sensitivity, which describes how some individuals are uniquely predisposed to benefit more than others from positive experiences and supportive interventions. Understanding this trait provides vital insights into how we can better design effective mental health frameworks for vulnerable youth.
The event will be followed by ICHG Annual General Meeting.
