5-Part USAID MTaPS Webinar Series- Unlocking Potential of Retail Drug Outlets: Starts June 8, 2022

29 May, 2022

Greetings Colleagues,

USAID MTaPS is pleased to announce a five-part webinar series, starting Wednesday, June 8th, convening experts from across the globe to discuss and shape a practical pathway for advancing equitable access to quality pharmacy services through the private sector.

We know that consumers, especially the rural poor, often prefer to seek health care at their local drug shops and pharmacies. This is due to many reasons, such as better medicines availability than in the public sector; shorter waiting times; greater geographic accessibility; familiarity with the dispenser; and flexibility with purchasing. Yet the service quality in these outlets is often suboptimal. Poor dispensing practices and lack of adherence to treatment guidelines tend to lead to poor health outcomes and fuel antimicrobial resistance from misuse of antibiotics.

Join us to hear key voices and add your own to this timely effort to guide action and investment in improving pharmacy services in LMICs to help strengthen health systems and achieve better health outcomes for all.
