Dear HIFA community,
I am happy to join this vibrant community. As requested, below is a short story about me.
*Celina Aju-Ameh *is a lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State, Nigeria. Her primary research focus is in the field of medical entomology and parasitology. Current efforts are now largely concentrated on using the pedagogy of education for contextual problem solving, action research with children and community-led initiatives. She is committed to building global networks with a variety of stakeholders to successfully execute joint projects between the Global North & South. A mentor with the Pan-African Mosquito Control Association (PAMCA) Women in Vector Control (WiVC). Celina has written a book titled: *The Struggle to Emerge: an African scholar's experience*, reviewed books, book chapters, and a manuscript for Parasites and Vectors Journal. Celina earned all her three degrees: BSc/Ed-Biology Education, MSc-Applied Entomology and Parasitology, PhD-Medical Entomology and Parasitology from the University of Jos, Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. She is the founder of Huldah’s House Support Initiative (HHSI), a non-governmental organisation focused on improving the welfare of vulnerable persons, particularly widows and orphans. She teaches street kids reading skills for free. When she's not immersed in research, she finds solace in music, nature and volunteering within her community.
For leisure, she dances, listens to podcasts and as a hobby, she reads non-science books and cooks.
With my warm regards,
Celina
