Afrihealth Optonet Association 2025 End-of-Year Statement

20 December, 2025

*AFRIHEALTH OPTONET ASSOCIATION (AHOA)*

Dear Neil,

As we conclude 2025, I extend profound appreciation to all members, partners, and stakeholders of Afrihealth Optonet Association (AHOA) for your unwavering support, trust, and collaboration throughout the year.

The year 2025 was pivotal for AHOA. Amid evolving health, economic, and climate-related challenges, we consolidated our leadership in advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC), strengthening civil society engagement, and promoting evidence-informed health and social policy across Nigeria, Africa, and the Global South. Our interventions deepened community participation, enhanced accountability mechanisms, and strengthened the capacity of civil society actors to influence policy and practice. During the year, AHOA expanded strategic partnerships with government institutions, civil society networks, academia, and development partners. We contributed to national and global health platforms, advanced monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems, and supported inclusive dialogues that bridged grassroots realities with policy decision-making. Our work at the intersection of health, climate, and sustainable development further reinforced the importance of resilient and people-centred systems.

I commend the dedication of our Board, Patrons/Matrons, Fellows, Advisors, Technical Working Groups (TWGs), Secretariat Team, Programme Teams, Various Committees, Country/State Teams, volunteers, and member organizations whose professionalism and integrity continue to define AHOA’s credibility and impact. Despite funding constraints and a dynamic operating environment, your collective commitment ensured sustained delivery, innovation, and relevance.

Looking ahead to 2026, AHOA will focus on scaling impact, strengthening institutional sustainability, and deepening partnerships for transformative outcomes. We remain resolute in championing sustainable development, health equity, social justice, accountable governance, and the meaningful inclusion of communities in development processes.

On behalf of the Board and Management, I thank you for walking this journey with us. Together, we will continue to build stronger health systems and healthier, more resilient communities across Africa and the Global South.

Kindly accept my best wishes for a peaceful and impactful year ahead.
