Arch Dis Child: No child is an enemy (2) Now freely available

22 February, 2025

Dear CHIFA colleagues,

2 days ago I wrote to CHIFA to report that a global child health article in Archives of Disease of Childhood was behind a paywall. https://www.hifa.org/dgroups-rss/arch-dis-child-no-child-enemy

I also notified the author Trevor Duke and he has responded to say the article is now freely available to all: https://adc.bmj.com/content/110/3/190

The principle that 'no child is an enemy' was established by Eglantyne Jebb, who established Save the Children in 1919. The article notes that at least 11,000 innocent children have been killed in Gaza.

COMMENT (NPW): The article does not specifically refer to the recent dismantling of USAID, but we can be sure that in future years people will be estimating how many children have died, directly or indirectly, as a result of the United States' withdrawal of support for the most vulnerable, and the numbers will likely be much greater.
