AI information tool to be added to NHS App

A new AI tool is being added to the NHS App to enable patients to explain their health needs and ask questions about their care.

Named My Companion, it has been trumpeted by the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) as move towards reducing health inequalities and increasing patient satisfaction.

It will provide patients with trusted information to help them articulate their needs and preferences, supporting them to ask questions.

DHSC said this will effectively ensure “there are always two experts in every consulting room”...

Health Secretary Wes Streeting... said: “The good news is that technology gives us the opportunity to democratise healthcare in a way never before possible. It can empower patients with choice and control and make managing our healthcare as convenient as doing our shopping or banking online.”]
