Neil, your comments are well taken, as are Kamran Abbasi’s. Unfortunately, it is part of a larger picture of distrust in institutions and science. Arthur Kaplan wrote an interesting piece entitled, “How Stupid Has Science Been?” that is apropos for this group, describing how the lack of translation of science for the public has excluded the public from understanding its importance.
