Reduce cancer stigmatization: Patient awareness, health literacy and education initiatives, especially through survivor groups, contribute to addressing the stigmatization associated with cancer.
A few learnings from rural India through my H.O.P.E program:
Through the program, we empowered a strong group of local village women with minimal literacy. These women have been educated, screened, and treated for HPV-positive cases so they can spread awareness, conduct screening/awareness camps, disseminate information, break myths and rumors and create a band of strong community of women with accurate knowledge about women's cancers.
The above actions reduce cancer stigmatization, make patients aware, and spread health literacy and education initiatives, especially through survivor groups.
Thanks and Regards!
