*Cervical cancer (66) Mobile cervical cancer screening in Pune city, India

2 November, 2026

I was reviewing some of the videos of International Agency for Research on Cancer: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgDB39BFocs3_xaLXkvhwUOiB-eEQN-l8

There are more than 30 videos here describing a wide range of aspects, mainly targeted to health professionals.

One of these shows mobile cervical cancer screening in Pune city, India (2019). Women stand in line to be screened in a vehicle equipped for purpose. The vehicle has educational posters at the side, encouraging women to come forward.

The health professional in charge explains that many of these women cannot afford to take a day off to travel to the clinic. The cervix is screened by visual inspection with acetic acid 'following WHO guidelines'. Women who require colposcopy are called for follow-up at the clinic.

Question: Have you participated in cervical screening in any country? Rural or urban? What facilitites were used? What methods were used to encourage women to come forward? Please share your experience by email to: hifa@hifaforums.org

Many thanks, Neil
