Children and Wearing Mask - COVID-19 [3]

11 July, 2020

Dear CHIFA

It is more likely that older kids would be able to be educated to wear their masks correctly. With younger kids it is much harder. As my 3- year old has advised: “ Mum, I can’t breathe or speak properly when wearing a mask”.

I have seen caps with plastic visor type screens that cover the face too. Some schools have suggested that the little kids wear these.

How do we ensure that little kids maintain strict social distancing on the playground? Currently kids are told to sit on the dot or in the block at 1-2m apart, and there are teachers that monitor this during recess. Or they are having lunch at their desks which are placed 1-2m apart.

It poses many new questions on how children will learn about interacting with others and how this will ultimately affect them as adults.

Kind regards
