Hello, my name is Alba Patricia González Ordóñez, I am a Doctor in Social Service at the National Autonomous University of Honduras.

I am currently working on a study on the prevalence of depression, anxiety and hopelessness in patients over 18 years of age at the General Hospital of Santa Teresa de Comayagua in Honduras during the COVID-19 pandemic, finding that the majority of the population that attends The consultation presents a degree of depression, anxiety and hopelessness, of which in many cases they are not aware, so it is extremely important to implement preventive measures to achieve adequate mental health, which is a fundamental part of good quality of life. Many of these patients already have chronic diseases and the pandemic has increased fear and anxiety about the possibility of acquiring the disease and complicating it with death, as doctors we must provide efficient and timely support both to diseases already known by the patient as well as new without neglecting the value of timely treatment of psychiatric disorders, which can arrive at any stage of our lives, in this case being triggered directly or indirectly by the COVID-19 pandemic.
