Dr Bot: Why Doctors Can Fail Us and How AI Could Save Lives (8)

15 September, 2025

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is undoubtedly one of the most discussed technologies today, often hailed as the single biggest driver of change across industries. From healthcare to education, finance to governance, AI is projected as a revolutionary force. AI is at risk of being over-hyped.

AI today carries elements of hype. Startups, corporations, and governments are investing billions, while media narratives often exaggerate capabilities, suggesting AI will replace entire workforces or outperform human intelligence in all aspects. In reality, AI still has significant limitations — it depends on quality data, lacks true reasoning, and can produce biased or incorrect outcomes. If expectations continue to outpace reality, a bubble of disillusionment is inevitable.

This does not mean AI will disappear, it will leave behind useful advancements. But the frenzy may calm, leading to a more balanced, practical integration of AI, focusing on real-world value rather than inflated promises.
