Editorial on Nuclear Risk and Health

18 July, 2023

The 6th of August marks the anniversary of the detonation of the first atom bomb over Hiroshima. To commemorate this, and because nuclear risk is greater now than ever before, an editorial on “nuclear risk and health” has been written by a group of leading medical editors from all over the world.

The World Association of Medical Editors is recommending that its members publish the editorial, and numerous major journals (BMJ, Lancet, JAMA, NEJM, …) have already undertaken to do so. The commitment is to publish the editorial in the three months after 1 August 2023.

If you edit a journal, please consider joining the list of prestigious journals that have agreed to publish this editorial. In the week leading up to August 6, the Nobel-prizewinning International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War will be announcing the journals that have committed to publish the editorial. The publishing journals will be given public prominence.

Editors can get a copy of the editorial and further details from czielinski@ippnw.org - given the deadlines, please write as soon as possible.
