EHS-COVID (551) Dissemination webinar: Key takeaways from the COVID-19 response in Eastern, Central and Western Africa, 5th October 2022

Makerere University School of Public Health with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Gates Ventures and in partnership with the University of Kinshasa School of Public Health in the DRC, University of Ibadan College of Medicine in Nigeria, Cheikh Anta Diop University in Senegal, and University of Ghana School of Public Health in Ghana have been implementing the COVID-19 assessment project to assess and curate the response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa and the outcomes in terms of COVID-19 control and continuity of essential non-COVID-19 health services within the COVID-19 period to inform the COVID-19 response and recovery as well as health system resilience to future disease outbreaks in Africa. This work has covered several work streams including:

- COVID-19 testing and surveillance.

- Maintenance of non-COVID-19 essential Health Services.

- Intended and unintended consequences of COVID-19

Health systems preparedness and response.
