Global health research led by meaningful community engagement and involvement is an ethical and instrumental imperative. The challenge, however, lies in doing this in an authentic and impactful way, navigating the complexities of power dynamics, ethical considerations, and structural inequalities that global health agendas and processes, so that research improves people’s lives by listening and responding to their needs, concerns, and priorities.
IDS is again running its five-day, in-person training course, Enabling empowered community engagement and involvement in global health research, from 16 to 20 June 2025. The course is for all researchers and practitioners wanting to develop their understandings, skills and strategies for engaging and involving people and communities in their projects and programmes.
The five days provide a unique opportunity for participants to bring their own challenges and experiences to the short course, to exchange and learn from with peers and grow their professional networks.
