I sent a request calling for the suspension of advertisements related to commercial milk formula in the Journal of the Japan Pediatric Society.
Finally, regarding the above matter, we have received the following response, jointly signed by the the President of JPS and the chairperson of the Journal Editorial Committee.
We have received a request regarding the commercial milk formula advertisements published in the JPS Journal. We want to report the results of the Japanese Journal Editorial Committee's deliberations on the request.
Following the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, we decided not to advertise milk formula for healthy children in the Journal.
