Fresh stillbirth and neonatal mortality among preterm and low-birthweight babies in Kenya and Uganda (2)

25 August, 2020

Hi Neil,

Thanks for sharing this research study.

It seems like the care provider training helped save lives of neonatal and preterm low birthweight infants. That says a lot about the need of the trained staff to handle tender lives. Besides the equipment if available.

Low birth weight and pre-term neonates are more susceptible to infections, hypothermia and failure to thrive than the term infants of >=8 lbs

Simple interventions such as ensuring maintenance of body temperature, timely feeds and hygiene to prevent sepsis requires trained and dedicated staff, who in turn can provide initial care and health educationinstructions to moms, dads and family to care for the neonate, subsequently.
