Global Digital Health Index and Maturity Model (GDHI) - request for country participation

2 February, 2023

Dear Colleagues,

The Global Digital Health Index and Maturity Model (GDHI) [ digitalhealthindex.org ]is an interactive digital resource that helps countries to prioritize and monitor their digital health interventions and enablers that uses the WHO/ITU eHealth Strategy Toolkit as the underlying foundational framework. The GDHI has undergone a year-long indicator and platform review and redesign process to align the indicators with the WHO Global Digital Health Strategy as a complement to the WHO Digital Health Atlas and includes a greater focus on AI, equity, gender, and Universal Health Coverage. Version 2.0 of the GDHI will include year on year performance monitoring country visualizations, regional visualizations, and country to country comparisons. Global Fund is partnering with the Global Digital Health Index to support Global Fund countries to prioritize funding requests and monitor performance of their digital health investments, beginning with Core and High Impact Countries.

As part of the GDHI Version 2.0 launch planned for May 2023, we are seeking to populate data from as many countries as possible.

The survey (available in English, French - with Spanish and Arabic forthcoming) consists of 23 indicators in the areas of leadership & governance; strategy & investment; legislation, policy & compliance; workforce; standards & interoperability; infrastructure; services & applications; and cross-cutting issues like emerging technology and equity. It takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to complete. The process works best if completed by a group of three or more individuals who are familiar with the digital health ecosystem within the country and can include a range of stakeholders, including:

• Option 1 (ideal): Led and completed by government officials overseeing and/or leading public digital health initiatives

• Option 2: Facilitated by non-governmental digital health stakeholders and endorsed through government representation

• Option 3: Completed by by non-governmental digital health stakeholders who are familiar with the digital health environment and submitted as pending government review and validation

We can provide facilitation slides, and would be happy to have a call to discuss how we can support the process within your country.

You are welcome to complete the survey using the following links (Spanish and Arabic versions are coming soon):

• French https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfj0hvcUzZkRdr2BcyyppcdzOIR5fUj...

Countries (and organizations) who complete the surveys will be featured as part of the official GDHI Version 2.0 launch during the 76th World Health Assembly in May 2023 and included in the State of Digital Health Report 2023 in late 2023.
