The Global Health Network Conference 2022, Cape Town, South Africa

1 December, 2022

This message is to share that from November 23 to 25, 2022, I participated in Cape Town, South Africa, in The Global Health Network Conference, that was developed under the theme of "Enabling health research in every healthcare setting" and commemorating "10 years of driving equity in where health research happens, who leads and who benefits," a commemoration that had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Global Health Network is a digital platform that facilitates knowledge sharing and connection and building strategic partnerships to achieve its goals of integrating research, promoting equity, and building research teams (https://hub.tghn.org/about/).

The conference was successfully developed through a program that included six pre-conference symposia (antimicrobial resistance, virtual biorepositories, strengthening of research capacity, breastfeeding, nursing research, pandemic communication), seven sessions organized as a plenary followed by related participations and also, the posters session. Faithfully reflecting the theme, the conference unfolded a diversity of experiences full of lessons learned in research on all continents. During the event it was shared the news of the designation of The Global Health Network as a WHO Collaborating Centre and launched the regional networks The Global Health Network Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean.

For me it was a great opportunity to interchange face-to-face with colleagues after several years of remote exchange. I had the opportunity to share with colleagues from The Global Health Network but also with other networks and initiatives such as HIFA (https://www.hifa.org/), Social Innovation in Health Initiative (https://socialinnovationinhealth.org/) and COVID-19 Clinical Research Coalition (https://covid19crc.org/).

Be alert of new advances since the next conference will be held in 2024 in Latin America and the Caribbean.
