My name is Julie Nyanchama Nyamao, I have been serving as a Senior Research Scientist at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Centre for Global Health Research, in collaboration with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. I lead the Maternal Immunization Readiness Network in Africa and Asia (MIRNA) study, and I am completing my PhD in Clinical Research, Maternal and Newborn Health at the University of Nairobi. I am also a certified midwife with over thirteen years of experience spanning clinical practice, research and health policy.
My area of interest lies in maternal immunization, with a particular focus on Group B Streptococcus (GBS) prevention and the translation of maternal vaccine evidence into national policy and health system readiness. I also consult for Kenya's Ministry of Health on the 100-Day Maternal and Newborn Health Rapid Results Initiative, working to reduce maternal and newborn mortality across the country's high-burden counties.
I would welcome the opportunity to connect and explore areas of shared interest or potential collaboration. [*see note below]
Warm Regards
Julie Nyanchama Nyamao
