Group B Strep (7) Personal and professional experience (2)

6 July, 2026

Dear CHIFA colleagues,

Our first Spotlight starts officially in 2 days time: 8 July 2026!

The theme is Group B Streptococcus, a leading cause of serious infection in babies that causes 150,000 stillbirths and early infant deaths every year.

Here again is our landing page with further information:

What is YOUR personal and professional experience of GBS disease? We would especially like to hear from you if your life has been impacted by GBS disease. Also we would like to hear your professional experience as a health worker, for example if you have been involved in the care of a mother and baby affected by GBS disease.

Thank you to the following people who have already shared their experience: Kelli Smith (United States), Dura Schlei (US), Mucheye Gizachew Beza (Ethiopia), Haji8me Takiuche (Japan), Julie Nyanchama Nyamao (Kenya), and Nehemiah Ndubi Okerio (Kenya). You can review their messages on our RSS feed here: www.hifa.org/readchifa

Their personal and professional experience in this topic demonstrates how profoundly important it is, and how much of the morbidity and mortality from this disease is preventable if only every parent and every health worker had access to reliable information on prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

We look forward to lively interaction on this important topic.

If you are willing, PLEASE forward this message to your contacts and encourage them to join us here on CHIFA: www.hifa.org/joinchifa

Many thanks and best wishes,

Neil
