HIFA Global Consultation (14) Preliminary results of the global survey, Part 1

Dear HIFA colleagues,

Please note that these are the *preliminary* topline quantitative data. More detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis is currently being undertaken by HIFA with help from Digital Medic at Stanford University (Jamie Johnston and Nadine Skinner) and Evidence for Global and Disaster Health/Florida State University (Margaret Sullivan).

Some topline results:

Top 4 countries: US, UK, Brazil, Nigeria

Top 4 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French

47% self-identified as 'apply evidence' (eg patient, health worker, policymaker)

22% self-identified as 'generate evidence' (eg researcher)

15% self-identified as 'help people find evidence' (eg library and inforamtion professional)

5.2% self-identified as 'synthesise evidence' (eg systematic reviewers)

3.4% self-identified as 'publish evidence' (eg journal editor)

3% self-identified as 'package evidence' (eg publisher of manuals for HWs)

6.2% self-identified as 'other'

In my next post I shall share the topline results for the section of the survey that asks "How important is access to reliable healthcare information?".
