Dear CHIFA Community,
We are delighted to join this community and to learn more about the important work being done to advance access to reliable health information globally.
My name is Ruth Ngaruiya, representing Know The Glow (KTG)
(https://knowtheglow.org/), a global nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness of preventable childhood eye conditions that can lead to blindness if not detected early. Our focus is on the early warning sign of leukocoria (the “Glow”), a white reflection in a child’s eye that may indicate more than 20 different eye conditions, including retinoblastoma, the most common and potentially fatal childhood eye cancer.
Through community outreach and digital awareness campaigns in Africa and beyond, KTG empowers parents, caregivers, and health workers to recognize early signs and seek timely care. To ensure our messages are accessible and culturally relevant, we develop awareness infographic materials translated into local languages, to support both community understanding and healthcare worker engagement.
We look forward to connecting with members, learning from one another, and exploring how we can collectively strengthen awareness and early detection within child health programs globally.
Warm regards,
Ruth Ngaruiya
