Introduction: Emily Vargas, Mexico - Improving the use of evidence in public health decision making

15 August, 2022

Dear Colleagues

I hope this email finds all of you well.

Please let me introduce myself

My name is Emily Vargas. I currently work as Professor at Autónoma Universidad de Yucatán in Mexico; and also, I am an associate founder at Higea Foundation a non-profit organization that is looking to improve the use of evidence in public health decisions at Health Ministers and in the community. I am from Colombia.

My experience as a founder and senior consultant at the Evidence Knowledge Brokering in Public Health SAS company, and as a research specialist at The National Institute of Health in Colombia and Mexico, provided me with a strong background in many aspects of knowledge management, systematic thinking, health research, and knowledge translation to create sustainable change. I have experience formulating and implementing public health research studies with a specialized focus in areas of policy development, and health systems analysis with an emphasis on the social determinants of health in LATAM.

My intentions are to further develop my academic and professional skills in topics related to using evidence, global health, focusing on vulnerable and underserved communities; as well as identifying effective routes for implementing interventions in populations with diverse social, political, environmental, and cultural approaches.

Please, feel free to contact me at any time.

Thank you in advance for your kind consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours,

*Emily V. *
