Journalen conference on Open Notes and 3 different ways of citizen activation of patient access to Open Notes (3)

13 November, 2022

I forgot to mention that we also discussed "proxy access to records" and "shared access to records".

I think it is fair to say that we accepted that "shared access to records" is record access shared between the patient with mental capacity and between one or more other parties who also his mental capacity - say a partner, spouse friend.

"Proxy access to the patient record" is access to the medical record of a patient who does not have mental capacity* by a third party who does have mental capacity.

*Children, patients with dementia or cognitive decline or perhaps, patients who cannot read or manage the access themselves.
