Lancet Offline: Boris Johnson and COVID-19 — more light than heat (3)

19 December, 2023

Chris Zielinski, UK writes

"During the pandemic, we didn't know who was responsible for the truth, or whose word to trust. The science advisors themselves were repeatedly caught in error (mistaken comparisons with influenza, for a while advocating a "let it rip" approach, expressing doubts about the feasibility of producing a vaccine, etc.) and nobody was seriously and systematically policing mis/disinformation."

I suggest you give yourself and your government a break. In a situation where the truth is unknown, and even the most knowledgable experts are changing their opinions at short notice, systematic policing of misinformation is impossible. Adding such efforts into the mix would just increase confusion, I suspect.
